Brasfield & Gorrie, a recognized leader in the construction industry, has an exciting opportunity available for a Risk Analyst in Birmingham, Alabama.  The position requires business management acumen, and successful candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills, as well as demonstrate strong communication and client service skills.


Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Assist operations and administrative personnel by answering questions related to subcontractor insurance (limits, coverages, carrier ratings, endorsements).
  • Implement insurance-related training for operations and administrative personnel.
  • Review and approve subcontractor certificates of insurance and additional insured endorsements.
  • Assist with insurance policy review, pricing, and scope evaluation.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and/or their insurance agents and brokers regarding insurance compliance.
  • Evaluate prime contracts and subcontracts for insurance compliance.
  • Be able to understand and communicate Brasfield & Gorrie’s corporate insurance program.
  • Manage corporate insurance program renewal and annual insurance audit.
  • Work with subcontractors to obtain prequalification and financial packages.
  • Analyze subcontractor financial statements according to company standards and document findings.
  • Evaluate subcontractors’ qualifications for enrollment in subcontractor default insurance policy.
  • Assist in the management of claims with Brasfield & Gorrie’s insurance agent, insurance carriers, legal department, and safety department.
  • Understand and communicate OCIP and CCIP coverages and administration procedures to project teams.
  • Assist in the management of OCIPs and CCIPs across Brasfield & Gorrie’s footprint.

Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Risk management industry designations preferred
  • Understanding of construction/risk management industry
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products (specific importance placed on use of Excel)
  • Math/accounting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Functions effectively as part of a team
  • Dependable
  • Able to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong decision making/problem solving skills
  • Seeks new knowledge/experience
