Responsibilities

Brasfield & Gorrie, a recognized leader in the construction industry, has an exciting opportunity available for a Payroll Rate Coordinator in Birmingham, Alabama. The Payroll Rate Coordinator will focus primarily on contract labor rates and is responsible for managing the setup of contract bill rates and allocation of time to projects.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

 

  • Assist in managing the rate process for Brasfield & Gorrie
  • Assist in developing contract labor rates in accordance with the project contract
  • Assist in setting up contract labor rates in the allocation system
  • Support project teams regarding any labor rate questions
  • Ensure that employee timecards are properly approved and processed
  • Maintain and test labor reports
  • Serve as a point of contact for labor and burden questions, answering inquiries, researching and resolving billing labor issues and discrepancies
  • Correct labor and burden entries in job cost
  • Support, coordinate and provide reports and any other requested information for internal and external audits
  • Lead and implement additional payroll/job cost projects as needed
  • Assess current processes and suggest/implement improvement methods

Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree required
  • Two or more years of payroll/accounting/finance or related experience
  • Labor billing rate experience
  • Construction accounting experience
  • Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations and procedures
  • Knowledge of Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One preferred
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver process improvements
  • Results oriented, innovative, creative and pro-active leader
  • High degree of comfort with large amounts of data
  • Experience performing diagnostic tests and audits, as well as documenting processes
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of team members to improve processes and initiate change
  • Ability to develop and build reports
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication, analytical, mathematical and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn new computer software
