Responsibilities

The Visual Effect Coordinator works within the Virtual Design and Construction department to assist project teams with graphics and animations throughout a project’s lifecycle. This position focuses primarily on 3D animations, special effects, and strong visualizations displaying construction intent and processes to owners, sub-contractors, internal team members, and potential clients in project pursuits. The Visual Effects Coordinator works directly with VDC and Preconstruction teams to explain construction intent and phasing to the owners.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Develop project pursuit animations
    • Simulate construction intent, assembly, and phasing to clients through the use of 3D models and computer-generated designs in high quality videos
    • Develop and maintain a library of 3D construction objects that can be used for future animations
  • Develop site logistic 3D visualizations
    • Create 3D site plans, illustrating construction logistics in still imagery
    • Work directly with Preconstruction and Field Operations team members to develop site logistics and understanding of site planning
  • Utilize Virtual Reality (VR) in Construction Operations
    • Create / Render virtual mockups
    • Utilize virtual technology to improve and explain construction operation
  • Participate in VDC Committee meetings & national conferences

Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction, Graphic Design, Video Design, or related program
  • 2-5 years of experience in the construction or related industry
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Suite of video editing software
  • Experience with Tekla, Assemble Systems, BIM360, Revit, Lumion, Solibi, Dynamo, Synchro 4D, Twinmotion, Inventor, Unreal Engine and Unity is preferred
  • Programming language knowledge is a plus (Python, C++, Java, HTML)
  • Proficiency of Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present your ideas through story boards
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed
  • Ability to work well as a part of a team and independently
  • Ability to pick up new software quickly on regular basis
