  • Responsibilities

    Brasfield & Gorrie, L.L.C. is a national general contractor and construction management company currently seeking a Business Analyst to support our Insurance and Risk Management Department (I&RM). Based in Brasfield & Gorrie’s Birmingham office, this position will report to the Director of Corporate Risk Management. The position requires strong analytical, technology, presentation, and organizational skills. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate effectively across multiple departments within the organization is critical to success in this position.

     

     

    Major Duties & Responsibilities:

     

    • Identify business needs and gain a deeper understanding of the current impact of a given I&RM process, determine any related pain points and provide improvement opportunities
    • Develop business understanding of complex and varying data sources
    • Utilize business intelligence software to create or assist others in building visual dashboards and reporting solutions that provide meaningful insight to I&RM operational results
    • Conduct regular ad hoc report creation and analyses for I&RM, operational business units, executive leadership, and insurance carriers
    • Manage daily project needs and provide ongoing project updates to help ensure key project deadlines and quality requirements are met
    • Review and process some I&RM-related invoices
    • Troubleshoot issues quickly and appropriately
    • Act as a liaison between the Information Technology Department (IT) and the I&RM Department
    • Act as a liaison between the Accounting Department and the I&RM Department
    • Work with IT and Accounting Departments to evaluate data sources to support reporting needs

    Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or MIS, Master’s degree preferred
    • 2-5 years of experience in other related field will substitute for work and/or technical experience
    • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to recognize discrepancies
    • Strong work ethic and initiative
    • Strong data intuition
    • Strong organizational skills (maintain databases with thousands of projects and subcontractors)
    • Strong interpersonal skills (interaction with internal and external customers, including Accounting, IT, Marketing, Legal, operational business units, executive leadership, etc.)
    • Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a self-directed manner
    • Must thrive in a fast-paced work environment
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
    • Proficient with PowerBI, Crystal Reports or other programming systems
    • Ability to learn processes and new technology quickly
    • Adaptable and open to change (program is continuing to develop)
    • Minimum travel required
