  • Responsibilities

    The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for managing the accounts payable function and team within a multi-location construction company.  The primary responsibility for this role is to ensure timely supplier payments.  This role will also be a major contributor to helping centralize invoice receipts within our Birmingham, Alabama office and in expanding ACH payment options to our suppliers.  The following list contains some of the additional duties and essential responsibilities for this role. 


    • Manage the maintenance of the vendor master
    • Manage the accounts payable workflow system and credit card payment program
    • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to vendor setup and supplier payments
    • Ensure timely supplier payments  
    • Provide periodic supplier analytics   
    • Assist with addressing and researching transactions identified in daily internal audit reports
    • Manage support staff capacity and work assignments
    • Manage the accounts payable monthly closing process and related account reconciliations
    • Prepare and coordinate annual 1099 tax reporting
    • Assist with proactive and ongoing supplier communication
    • Help seek out operational feedback related to companywide initiative to centralize payables function
    • Serve as a strategic partner to operations personnel and senior accounting management team on a variety of business and financial issues specific to the accounts payable function  

    Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required
    • 5-7 years of progressive experience within the accounts payable area   
    • Proficient knowledge of internal controls specific to the address book and accounts payable area
    • Knowledge of Prolog, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Concur and/or Construction Imaging
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
    • Commitment to developing skills and knowledge of both existing and future team members
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities and prioritize resources
    • Self-motivated, organized, ethical, detailed, and team-oriented
    • Effective written, oral, and interpersonal skills
