    Brasfield & Gorrie, a recognized leader in the construction industry, has an exciting opportunity to be part of the Innovation and Operational Technology Department in our Atlanta office.


    This department currently houses the company’s unmanned aerial systems (UAS), laser scanning, videography, and prefabrication services, with an overall responsibility to guide the company’s development in a positive direction using technology and modern construction methods. The Innovation Specialist – Reality Capture/UAS will oversee and perform drone and laser scanning services as well as participate in the overall conversations and direction of the department.


    Brasfield & Gorrie currently has more than 31 FAA-approved pilots and has flown more than 300 FAA-approved missions. UAS requirements include the ability to produce approved flight plans, define desired deliverables, carry out specific missions, and process the data requested by the project teams. Laser Scanning requirements include the ability to work with project teams to define deliverables, create project-specific plans, scan projects, and process data requested by the project team.


    Travel will be required for this position, but primary and day-to-day responsibilities will be based in the Atlanta office. Among other responsibilities, this position will be responsible for demonstrating business understanding while applying creative thinking and problem solving to positively benefit the company.


    Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

    • Knowledge in areas of construction technology: laser scanning, UASs, land surveying, 3D modeling, prefabrication, construction processes
    • Effective communication: Ability to effectively communicate relevant technologies and trends in our industry by working closely with various partners in our business and with internal stakeholders, as well as keeping abreast of cutting-edge innovation in our industry 
    • Time management: Ability to ensure that time and effort align with priorities and provide for the most efficient use of resources
    • Professionalism: Ability to carry yourself in a manner that reflects the company’s values while using proper decision-making abilities that protect the interests of the company
    • Planning and coordination of project-specific UAS flights
    • Processing of photogrammetry data
    • Planning and coordinating of project-specific laser scans
    • Processing of point cloud data

    Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

    • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or a related field is desired
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing UAS services
    • Experience in registration with Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Site Scan
    • Experience in land surveying, laser scanning, and GCP setup
    • Experience in point cloud registration using FARO Scene, Cyclone
    • Knowledge in modeling, web development, robotics programming, prefabrication/off-site
    • Flexible, self-managed, and self-motivated problem solver
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Willingness to travel overnight/weekly
    • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
