  • Responsibilities

    Brasfield & Gorrie, a recognized leader in the construction industry, has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Network Engineer in the IT department at the corporate office located in Birmingham, AL.

    The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network systems. The Senior Network Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT infrastructure investments.

     

    • Administer changes, improvements and problem remediation for network infrastructure  
    • Monitor overall communications performance across the enterprise (data and voice)
    • Report on Network utilization 
    • Assist in troubleshooting various technical issues  
    • Configure, deploy and troubleshoot Jobsite network equipment 
    • Assist with coordination, setup, maintenance and tear down of jobsites’ network equipment 
    • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols 
    • Maintain monitoring of environment 
    • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks 

    Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred
    • 7+ years of experience administering or designing WAN/LAN networks is preferred
    • CCNA is preferred
    • Experience with Cisco call manager, Cisco unity, Cisco IOS and VOIP
    • Experience in network monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization on both the LAN and WAN
    • Experience with any of the following is preferred: Microsoft Server Operating Systems, WAN optimization, remote access technologies, storage networking, wireless, and virtualization
    • Familiarity and exposure to technical concepts in data, video, and voice services 
    • Knowledge of systems and networking protocols and operations 
    • Ability to collaborate and work cross functionally on a team
    • Must have strong analytical capabilities and have a desire to learn new things  
    • Familiarity with Python and PowerShell scripting 
    • Ability to self-motivate
